Design thinking is about developing empathy for others. The goal is to uncover user needs and then create solutions to meet those needs. With the insights derived from ethnographic research, organizations are able to understand their customers’ experiences and how to best meet their needs. The Design Thinking Co- Creation Workshop is a creative, hands-on alternative to traditional focus groups and stakeholder testing sessions. In this two-day session, customers will act as both participants and as co-designers in the design challenge. During the workshop, participants will conduct ethnographic interviews, and analyze and synthesize data by creating Empathy Maps and Point of View Statements. They will learn how to effectively brainstorm potential solutions and build low-resolution prototypes focused on the insights they gained. These prototypes will tested, and, after feedback, the workshop participants will iterate a second round of prototypes. The learnings from this session will be reviewed with the goal of leading towards more innovative, human-centered solutions.
